Whadya Expect? Socialism!?!

obama joker.jpg“Yeah, maybe he [Brad Lidge] is not having a stellar season but after what he did last year, the guy deserves a little bit of a break… He’s not really any sort of appropriate object for scorn.”
— Allen Krause

Uh oh.  Dear readers, there he goes again.

Indeed, with the above statement, my always venomous and sometimes sneaky colleague across the aisle, Mr. Allen Krause, not only managed to embarrass himself with more tired slandering, but he also succeeded in alienating his entire base: people who love the game of baseball.

Believe me, those people in Philadelphia ain’t too happy about the lackluster performances of one Brad Lidge.

And with a Major League leading 8 blown saves this season, who would be?

Lidge should not be an object for scorn, Mr. Krause?  Let me tell you something.  Your recent absence from my watchful eye and the overall sanctity of RSBS‘ loyal readers has caused you to forget the most important fact of them all: this is US America!!!

And US America is not some sicko socialist regime where everyone can expect to be treated equally regardless of class.  This is not some soft ego-massaging utopia where the Kevin Greggs and Brad Lidges of the world are as praiseworthy as the Mariano Riveras and Joe Nathans.  No, this is not some machinated system of social stability, Mr. Krause.  This is not some communal crackpot of communist theory.  This is not some lewd egalitarian fantasyland where everyone should expect to be taken care of if they get sick and need health care… don’t you know how hard it is for doctors to live their lives with just one Bentley in the garage rather than three!?!

If you can’t succeed on your own, you deserve to be punished!

Whether we’re talking about Brad Lidge or Kevin Gregg or Jesus himself… it doesn’t matter: if you suck, prepare for your roast.

‘Cuz that’s just how life is when you’re free.

Hate me ‘cuz I’m fluent in sarcasm and smarmy as hell, just don’t hate me ‘cuz I’m right.

Ted — We’ll see. Al is kinda lame, but you already know that.
Dillon — Well, er… it really didn’t work out all that well 😉

  2. Erin Kathleen

I’m not sure why people are so surprised that Lidge has come back down to earth. He was essentially putting up career numbers last year that he would be unlikely to repeat given his age, so his regression shouldn’t come as a shock. Of course, I don’t think many people predicted he’d be quite this bad, either.

  3. devilabrit

As I pointed out Lidge is Kloser, cause without the K’s hes another loser….but more importantly are there bets on how long it is before we get a Smoltz Sucks post or Smoltz the investment that never gives or Smoltz fell off the mound or Smoltz doesn’t like the pen, not the one he signed with the one he lives in….

Just think, if Phillies fans work their vitriol to a high enough level they could ruin Lidge’s career – just like Mitch Williams. Maybe Curt Schilling can come to town and show the starting pitchers how to put a towel over their head while Lidge tries for a save. I recognize that a Cards’ fan has a stake in putting a stake in Lidge, but Phillies’ fans could be more supportive unless they have a Plan B. I don’t think that Pedro is Plan B. Lidge has several successful seasons as a closer on his resume. Pedro may not have a successful inning as a closer. Charlie’s trying to handle a tough situation. If it gets bad enough, he may try Madsen again, even though Ryan wasn’t too good at closing when Lidge was injured. PS to Jeff – thanks for reposting the “funny” pic of Pres. Obama. The Joker was a real man of the people.

Erin — I always knew Lidge was human… I think I’ve seen him close to crying (a la Nuke LaFarnsworth) on several occasions.
Peter — Kloser it is. As for Smoltz… maybe Duncan will fix him like everyone else. Worth 100K in my opinion.
Lisa — Yep. Al loves a good smackdown alright.
Dadlak — Consider it a smarmy play on the emotions of the people. That picture is ridiculous… as I’ve explained previously here… just like the violent outbursts against universal healthcare are ridiculous as is the play of Mr. Lidge this season. Slander ain’t our game plan here, but hell, it happens.
Ted — We’ll see about Al. One never knows.

Funny, Ted… because my colleague Allen loves to nibble and pound and get into pitcher’s counts too. Three cheers for irony, eh!?

Jane, oh no you didn’t just say I’m takin’ the beating… why do you think Al has been gone so long? (Hint: BIG BLACK EYE)
