Is There a Harper and Trout Remix?

I want to hate Bryce Harper and Mike Trout.  Maybe if they played for the Tigers I’d love them but two guys that young, that talented and that successful who aren’t on my team?  Honestly, I really want to dislike them.

With Trout it’s a little harder because somehow he comes across as a good guy and great teammate despite only being 20 years old.  Harper, it’s a little easier because he’s even younger, bro’ed out and he knows he’s good.  That kind of self-assuredness often comes off as cockiness and that makes it easier to hate someone.

Yeah, I really want to hate these guys, especially Harper, and I feel like I made an honest effort at it.  Sadly, it kind of went like this:

I can’t help it.  I’m hooked.

  1. Minoring In Baseball

Al-I really can’t help but root for Trout, too. We met him a few couple of years ago while he was playing in Cedar Rapids, and he made a very positive impression on us. He took the time to chat with us for a little while, and made sure some of his fans got a game ball. It didn’t hurt that he crushed a home run in his first at-bat, either. I was hoping to see Harper in Syracuse this season, but missed him by a couple of weeks.

  2. This is a very simple game...

Hooked on Trout eh? 😉 Yeah, both are infinitely fan-crushable and while, as an Angels fan, I adore Trout even more, I do enjoy watching both guys play immensely. Harper may be cocky, but it’s an endearing kind of cocky and both guys play the game the right way, with so much passion it’s infectious.
